Popeyes Lousiana Kitchen FTW!!!

When I first heard of Popeyes (the fast food joint, duh), the only thing that crossed my mind was 'Great, another over priced fast food restaurant selling ONLY fried chicken' and I wasn't intending to give it a try, ever because I was confident that my current fave (at the time) was the best and nothing could beat that. But of course, one good soul made me try Popeyes and since then, I've been hooked and have converted to a Popeyes Faithful Follower, until something else new pops up. Hahaha...I kid, I kid.

How I got hooked? I'll keep it short and simple - Absofreakinglutely delicious!!! The chicken meat is soft, the skin is crispy and not too fatty, its really juicy and the taste is just right - not to salty or salt-free. But of course, taste of food is very subjective and everyone is entitled to have their own opinions so don't go bombarding me with hate words like what my colleagues have done, including my boss!! I tried recommending this to them but they kept saying that I don't have taste...oh well. Their loss. Haha.

If you have not been bitten by the Popeyes bug, continue reading/looking at my self taken photos of the food I've tried so far and hopefully in the end, you'll be drooling your face off. LOL

The Bonafide Chicken, comes in 2 or 3 pieces, with bones and all.

Photobucket

Bonafide Chicken Tenders, strips of lean chicken (suitable for bone haters out there, like me)

Besides just chicken, they have fish and shrimp too for those who are not into chicken meat for some reason. Oh, here's another reason why I love Popeyes besides it being 'absofreakinglutely delicious', it has fish and shrimp!! I am not a big fan of fish or shrimp but once I ate their version of it, I went love drunk.

The fish is fresh (dont have that fishy taste), it is boneless and as for the shrimp, it is springy, fresh, juicy and clean (with no black strings to be seen, like in usual shrimps). Added bonus for me, a fussy eater. LOL.

The fish

The shrimp

Now this is something you don't see everyday, well not me...

Shrimp sandwich, pieces of succulent shrimp stuffed in between two buns accompanied by lettuce, tomatoes and so on. Oh My Gahh....drools.

Shrimp Rice Bowl

Photobucket

The Shrimp Rice bowl, in my opinion was very very different and not what I expected. It seemed very japanese style to me but once you dig in, big red beans are visible and it no longer portrays 'Japanese food' but maybe more like Mexican food. shrugs.

Photobucket

I dont really like red beans in my food so this one didn't really win bonus points from me. Only the shrimps attracted my taste buds. Heh.

So, just in case you dont already know, Popeyes has a new addition to their menu list - The Sticky Wicked Chicken, only available for a limited time. I know, time to stock up on my side before its gone for good!

Photobucket

This sticky wicked over here is something like the chicken tenders but very different because it is wrapped with sticky sweet sauce and a pinch of spicyness, something like the Thai style chicken we would normally eat with rice and it is served up twisted, curly and wicked...hence the name. Oh so good and once you have it, you can never stop. Trust me because I wanted more!!

Of course, each of these meals comes with the famous yummy biscuit together with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. I tell you, these little babies are so to die for!!!!

Photobucket

For me, these are better than 'youknowwhere'. Hahah. The sauce in the mash tastes so special and home-made and the coleslaw looks like proper vegetables are used in it. Lovely!

As for the biscuits...

Photobucket

Oooh lala!! It tastes good with or without the strawberry jam!! I have only one wish where this is concerned...can we buy only the biscuits as an ala carte thing? Maybe 6 in a box or something because they are so gooooood. Droools 2.0.

Okay, if you know me well, you will know that I frikkin love fries. If I see people waste their fries and just walk away after eating, there's a part of me that wants to hit them in their heads for wasting it and take it from their tables for myself to enjoy. Chill...because I haven't done it before. LOL. Anyway, Popeyes also serves tasty Cajun Fries and oh em gee...best. fries. ever.

Photobucket

See? So loving it until I have to pose with it for a picture!

Photobucket

It tasted like curly fries but its straight and so not like the usual. This is gonna be my 'must order' when I head back to Popeyes, I tell ya. I dont care if the the usual Bonafide Chicken Meal I usually order will stuff me like a soft toy. Okay, weird example but whatevs.

Lastly, wanna know what I enjoy most about food reviews? The photo taking session. It is the only time people are allowed to take food photos without being judged!!! Haha. Yes, I admit, I usually judge people who take food photos (friends excluded because I am biased like that)

Photobucket

I was embarrassed though because everyone's camera was so canggih and mine was a tiny one. coughcough.

So, blabbering aside because here comes the best part of this post (I hope). With arrival of the new Sticky Wicked Chicken, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen are rewarding their customers with a 'Meal For 2' promotion in which you can save up to 30%!! If you love cheap good food then this is your moment!

At only RM20.60 (can you hear the Alleluia chorus??), you, you and you can enjoy one box of Sticky Wicked Chicken, two pieces of Popeyes signature Bonafide Chicken, three pieces of Bonafide Chicken Tenders, two pieces of Popeyes signature biscuits, one large mash potato or coleslaw, and two regular sized cups of Ice Lemon Tea. If it ain't enough for you, don't worry and be happy because the Sticky Wicked Chicken is available ala carte at RM4.95. Phew....a pretty damn good deal is you ask me. So the question now is, deal or no deal???

If you still find it hard to believe...feast your eyes on this!!

Photobucket

So if you claim to love fast food as much as I do, better make your way to the nearest Popeyes outlet (Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Sunway Pyramid, Mid Valley, Wangsa Walk, e@Curve, the Mines Shopping Fair and Jalan Yap Kwan Seng) before it is too late. Read: LIMITED TIME ONLY!!

For the first time, overdosing on fried food didn't make me feel like killing myself. Its not jelak at all!!! I 've got Popeyes fever y'all.

On an unrelated note, here is me and the girl who made it possible for me to give Popeyes a chance...Lovely Michelle!!

Photobucket

I used to be her intern 2 years ago and I am glad she kept me somewhere in her memory. Haha.

That's all folks.
Chao chin chao!!

PS: please excuse any typo is any. *sweet smile*
