Swinging By Singapore

I dont remember the last time I actually blogged with photos of myself. Its been too long brah/sistah, too long. Most people told me that my blog is now boring...because of the lack of photos. But have you ever thought that its not me who's boring but its you who is kaypoh and lazy? Kaypoh to look for new pikchurs and lazy to read what I have to say. Tsk tsk. Well, all you photo-lookers are in luck today because....I HAVE PHOTOS TO SHARE!!!

Now that I am officially jobless and no longer a student, I'm taking time to do what I used to enjoy...telling a story. Although most of you dont care what I write about because its all about the pikchurs right? la di da.

On the 8th of May 2010, just 2 days after I kissed maths goodbye, Stephy and I headed down to Singapore for a 2 day 1 night trip. My parents thought that I was stupid to just go for 1 night instead of 2. Hello?! No money. All expenses were on me and...it was just the 2 of us....how much can we do right? If we were in a group, then its a whole different story.

We took the earliest bus just so we could reach by lunch time and spend the whole day doing whatever. We took the First Coach bus and my, my...was I ever excited. Why? Because I heard that the bus got TV. heheheh. Excitement lebih!! Also, I am a jakoon so...double excited.

Few minutes after the bus started moving, I decided to play around with the TV. I was shy to torun it on at first but as soon as that guy in front of me did it, I turned it on too. What a copy cat. LOL.

The movie selections were amazing!!! I had so many to choose from and knowing that I have a very short attention span, I decided to watch something I've seen many many times - She's The Man (as shown above). This movie is super hilarious ballz!! I forgot how funny it was because if I remembered, I wouldnt have chose it. I had to laugh silently during funny scenes because I didnt wanna scare other passengers. sigh. The only movie I saw for the first time during the ride was Bridget Jones Diary. and I actually sat through the whole thing. I dunno why lah...I cant watch a movie without doing other things, unless its in the cinemas.

After what felt like only an hour (thanks to the entertainment), we crossed the bridge over to Singapore!!

After the custom, immigration, yada yada yada, we got off the bus at where it stopped us. According to the sister, the hotel we booked is VERY near where the the bus stop was. That information was like one less thing to worry about but boy, was I wrong. Thanks to the directions given by a very confident hi-tech guy, we got lost.

Actually, we first asked an old man how to get to Hotel 81 Bugis (where we stayed) from where we were. He pointed one direction and we just followed. To be honest, we didnt really trust the old man because who knows right? He might have forgotten and gave us the wrong directions. So, we being smart, decided to ask this hi-tech looking fella for directions. Why hi tech? Because he used his phone to access Google Maps in order to show us the directions. Thanks a lot dude....we got lost because of YOU.

So, we went round and round literally, asking everyone else for directions and we got many different versions of it. It was extra tiring because we had to carry our heavy bag and walk around like lost tourist. Mission to fit in with the rest: Fail!!

We were also chasing time because we cant check in the hotel later than 2.30pm. As we realised how lost we were, it was already 2.15pm. How to make it??? It really felt like we were playing Amazing Race Asia or something. In the end, we took a cab.

The cab ride was 5 minutes and we found out that the bus stop where we got off from is actually indeed very frikkin near. From there, we just had to walk straight, make a turn and there it is. Instead, what did we do? I dont even wanna think about it. From that day onwards, I vowed to myself to give people proper directions whenever I am asked.

When we reached the hotel, all we did was lie down on our beds. Too tired to move. But we didnt want to waste time so off we went hunting for the famous Bugis Junction. The hotel people were also useless in directions so we turned to Mr. 7Eleven worker for help. By far, his directions was the most accurate!!!

At last, we succeeded in finding our way - Bugis Junction. We thought that this was it....as in Bugis Junction and Bugis Street was the same but duh, its not.

Many know that I am a sucker for shopping. Its an addiction. So its no surprise that I managed to get some purchase after walking into just a few shops.

Photobucket

What to do? It looked cheap!!! I bought two pairs of shoes for $30. The best part is these shoes can be bought in Malaysia and after converting, its still the same price. But but but....the shoes fit my feet better compared to the ones back home. Stephy calls it...'Psychology shopping'. And I couldnt disagree. Everything there is seriously cheap, if I was earning Singapore dollars lah. Damn, I wish i was earning some S$ *dreamy*

Here's something I spotted as we were waiting to cross the road. Nice buildings!!

Photobucket

I like how it is creatively built. These buildings can be seen as you are crossing the road to Bugis Street. No pictures of BS because it was extremely crowded and hot. I hated it but after buying a bag for $10, I instantly cheered up :D

Speaking of crossing roads, this is one reason why I love love love Singapore. their road crossing system is very On!!!

Photobucket

Oh, there Bugis Street is.

Anyway, this made me more confident in crossing the roads. I think we have it here but who uses it?? No one!! People like my parents wont. Even if there's a bridge to use, they will still cross the road dangerously. Tsk tsk.

Before I proceed, let me share a little bit about our original itinerary for this trip. We were supposed to meet another uni friend of ours who's working there. She thought that we were going the following week so she decided to balik kampung on the weekend we were in Singapore. So much for wanting a tour guide. It was then that we decided to explore on our own. After Bugis, we showered and headed to orchard Road...with MRT!! Although its the same concept as our LRT but its still exciting.

This is Orchard Station, on our way out to the road.

Photobucket

Lookie here...still crowded even in the night!!! Its amazing how almost everyone takes the MRT and the roads are still packed with cars. And every station is packed. One sad thing about it is hows its all underground. I cannot admire the view :(

Hola...me and the Orchard Road.

Photobucket

I dont like shopping at Orchard Road. Why?? Because every where I turn, I see labels like this...

Photobucket

...among others.

At the window of this El Wee (LV) outlet, they had this unique looking decoration that attracted me. I like to eat mushrooms so spotting this mushroom just got me all excited.

Photobucket

So nice right??? Luckily no one arrested me for posing there.

As we strolled down Orchard, we saw many inneresting stuff like a beat boxer, people selling funny things, and....

Photobucket

Blurry me actually believed that this was a mannequin but why would people give money to a lifeless thing? Then, it suddenly turned to a different direction. It made me realised its no mannequin. Gulp. How does one do this?? Stand on something like that and not blink. Some more got camera flashes!! Respect. But it did creep me out a little.

Tired with all the walking, we sat down for some drinks. Dunno why but i was easily tired over there and was always thirsty. No interest for food also.

Refreshing!!! Mango daiquiri

The next day, we planned to go to Sentosa Island but plans failed because it was kinda far so we decided to head over to Marina Bay!

It was quite a long train ride from Bugis because Marina is situated right at the end. And....what happened when we reached there?

Photobucket

It rained like ballz. It wasnt raining when we got on the train. sigh!!!! Couldnt check out the famous lion head and I couldnt use my Polaroid there. Grrr. What a luck. Thanks to the rain, we traveled to China Town. When we go off the MRT, it was sunny and bright. How can??

Photobucket

I like the building behind me...for some unidentified reason.

Photobucket

And i chose this one with my face like that because...all my pikchurs look so smiley lah. I cant take it. LOL.

I took a lot of pictures at Chinatown but I dont wanna put it here because y'all might think that I was in Malacca...and i might be bluffing. hahaha. Lame joke, people. Sowee.

Oh before I forget...

Photobucket

I love this shot. This was taken as we were taking a morning walk to explore Bugis even more. Actually, more like walking to the bus station place to buy our tickets. LOL. That was how we realised that the hotel and bus stop is damn near.

Evening came and it was time to leave. I'm not satisfied with my stay there. i want more!! Maybe next time?

A wet ride home.

Photobucket

This is one of my fears...sitting on a fast moving bus under a heavy rain.

What I love about Singapore is how its very green and there are 2 separate roads....for cars and people to walk. it makes walking for me such a stress free thing. The people there are also very stylish and I admire them!!! Love their dressing style. Heck, even the maids there dress up so sexy. Stephy and I thought that we look more like maids compared to them.

Of course, there were many many many good looking guysss!!! Yum :) :) :)

Lastly, I wanna complain about Hotel 81 Bugis. I left my phone charger there and I emailed them about it. Till this day, they only replied me ONCE!! Not letting me know if they are able to ship it back to me. Eh...a quick yes or no reply also i dont mind lah. How long you wanna make me wait? My phone is hanging on dear life!!

The End!!
