So Long, Farewell Childhood Home

Once upon a time, my family and I lived in this house located at this place that looks kinda like a kampung. Maybe slightly upper class than that but still a kampung lah because you can see monkeys, scary stray dogs, and lots of mosquitoes. I had a lot of lovely memories there, ten whole years of fun childhood games with neighbours and I think I was more outdoor-sy compared to now. Sigh.

Anyway, after many many years of renting the house out after we moved, Papa finally decided to let it go and sold it. So, last month we went over to pass the new owners the keys and I got the chance to say goodbye to my childhood shelter.

Yeap, that's Papa, all smiles in front of his very first home.

Come come, let me bring y'all around the house to have a look.

I dont really remember the roads being very small and squeezy but now it seems more like it. Two cars cannot go through at one time, thats how small it is.

Over here, its our previous neighbour's house and you can also see Aunty Betsy's/Mamma's/our babysitter's house beside it. We used to climb over the fence to go to each other's house, instead of using the gate. We were such monkeys.

Can you believe it? Clair used to CLIMB!! Now, I'm like some scardy cat. Sadness. Oh, our neighbor had a mini swimming pool as well. I remember how we used to sit inside the pool and played 'masak masak' and barbie dolls. Fun!!

Besides climbing, I used to love cycling up and down slopes. I also remember how some scary dogs used to chase after me as i cycle fast!! Traumatizing but all in good fun, no? There was one time, my friends and I stole rice from this kedai runcit to make 5 stones, some traditional game I used to love. fter stealing it, we returned it back. LOL.

Duh, this is our garden. There used to be 2 huge pine trees but now its chopped off.

The many rooms that brings memories.

This cupboard under the sink used to freak me out a lot!!

Photobucket

Why? because whenever i open it to take something, I would see a frog happily sitting inside it ans staring back at me. Disgusting lor okay!!! I used to scream in fear of it jumping at my face. Brrr.

When I was a kid, I used to be pretty clumsy and this window was the cause of many 'head banging' episodes.

When ever I hit my head on the window, my Mom would hit the window and "scold" it. Good times.

Oh oh oooh. Check this out.

Yea, the people who live in this house was known as the 'ten thousand miles' family because they always had that look, like they're ten thousand miles away. I used to be afraid of them because when I was a kid, someone in the family branded them as 'crazy'. I dont think they are.

The parents were a bit weird, the son used to squat down in the back lane and talk to the stones on the ground and the daughter used a pacifier until she was in her teens!! They are much older than us and I witnessed a lot of weirdness coming from them. I wonder what they're like now. I didnt see them though.

While we were there, we got to catch up with Aunty Betsy and other neighbors. Reminded me a lot about my kiddy days and I wish times were just as simple as then. It was sad that I didnt get to see my other childhood friends though but we're connected through FB so we're good :)

Here's the sister and I with Aunty Betsy who used to take care of us at one time when we didnt have a maid.

She used to give me a bath and feed and out me to sleep for a nap. That day, she also admitted that she threw away my small bolster!!! How come?? No wonder it magically disappeared.

The people who bought over the house is also another neighbor who has an expanding family and buying this house is good for them because their son's family will move there and it'll be more convenient. This neighbour was one of the very first people I met. I used to hang out a lot with one of their daughters and we used to go to the same kindergarten. I didnt see her that day anyway. Its funny how they remember all our names but I dont remember theirs. hehe.

We also met the latest addition to their family.

This is the eldest son's son. He is soooo cuteeee and I was tempted to pinch him. Had to control lah, of course. I hope that this boy will be able to build awesome memories in this house and neighbourhood just like I did.

The end.
