Out With The Old, In With The New

Wow....Christmas came and gone in a blink of an eye. No, more like before I can even blink, it ended just like that. Now, 2009 has come to an end. But this time, I managed to blink properly as it just flew by past me. I must admit, 2009 was pretty much a roller coaster ride for me, you know, like that solero shot in Genting *rolls eyes*. I guess, that's the excitement of life right?

I was thinking of writing about how my 2009 went but its a bore to read and write as well. So, I'll just write about the highlights of my achievements for this year. Achievements in my eyes, that is.

1. Prom 2009

First of all, I attended my first ever prom!!

I am not really a prom kinda girl so attending my first one was pretty cool. In 2007, I did attend my uni's prom but that was because I was on the committee team so it doesn't really count. I had to work and didn't get to enjoy much. Heck, I didn't even have any close friends there so...doesn't count. I had lotsa fun during prom because we got to help each other style our hair, put on make up and dress up together. We also made even more friends. it was cool.

2. MUET Exam

I didnt get to join the rest for the after party because I had to seat for the MUET exam the next morning. I got quite a satisfactory results for MUET tho - Band 4, whatever that means. My mom was disappointed because for a person who speaks english everyday, that wasnt very good but who cares!! As long as I passed :D

3. Internship

In June, I started my internship programme at Go Communications. I was glad to have the opportunity of working in the field of my dreams, with events happening almost every month. That was what I wanted back when I was 17. But after testing the waters at this company, I realised that maybe this isn't my dream after all. I didn't feel like I was doing a good job as an intern and feared that I would get fired!! So, I prayed everyday to do better and even if my supervisor cant stand me, just maybe bear with me for a few months.

After 3 months of dragging my feet and picking myself up, I managed to score good grades for this programme. Yeap, I got an A and a GPA of 4!!! Even I was impressed. I guess, my patience and hard work really paid off :)

4. My Sweet Ride

When I started internship, I also started driving. My dad got me a second hand car to bum around in. I didn't have much of a choice because I had events that are mostly after working hours and I couldn't depend on car pooling with the sister. It wouldn't be fair because she would need to wait until I was done and so on. As time went by, I got more brave and confident and have been driving ever since.

My mom even said I'm a fierce driver. I cant disagree because I find myself scolding people and giving them glares if they pissed me off on the road. LOL. If I didnt start driving back then, I think I'd still be a pussy. So, thanks Pa for getting me the car and pushing me!!

By the way, as a tribute to all who have always had to pick me up and send me home due to my inability to drive back then, I would now offer to pick and send people home during outings. How's that?

4. Turning Twenty Two

I consider this an achievement because I am given the opportunity to live beyond 20 and it makes me appreciate my life even more.

5. First ever trip with Uni Buddies

When we were on a long break after our internship, the uni buddies and I had our first ever trip to Genting!!

We bonded and got to know each other more. I'm glad we were able to make this trip an awesome one because we made so many funny memories and until today, I cant seem to get it out of my head. So sad that Sumeet didnt get to join us tho.

6. My Corby

The only thing that was helping me survive during internship was the reward I was planning to give myself. I wanted a Nokia e63 but finally settled for a Samsung Corby.

Yeah baby, all my blood sweat tears of working and managed to get myself this cool gadget. I love it so much because its pink and I can twitter. LOL. I always told myself that I dont want a touch screen phone but I guess we always get what we don't really want right? Whatever it is, still love my Corby a lot :D

2009 did have its down moments for me that I have not shared with anyone (and do not intend to do so at all) before. How did I deal with? I swept it all under a rug and moved on, hoping that it wouldn't happen again. Certain people around me did not make it easier at all which caused me to be more impatient with things.

The biggest shock of 2009 for me would be the passing of Gary, my childhood friend. Up to this day, I still find it hard to believe that he's gone. I often find myself thinking that he's still alive and I have not had the chance to meet up with him. As I start believing he's still around, I would be suddenly reminded that he isnt. May God bless his soul.

Okay, some of these may not sound like achievements but screw you, they are to me!! So, thanks for the memories, dear 2009 and I hope that 2010 will be even better with more surprises coming my way. Good surprises please.

Lastly, HAPPY NEW YEAR, Y'ALL!!!

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne.

Whatever that means lah. All I know is, people sing it during New Years. LOL. Anyway, here's to 2010!!! Cheers and peace out!!
