This Sucks

"And I will make sure to keep my distance. Say, "I love you," and you're not listening"
- Christina Perri, Distance.

Soooo... this is what it feels like.

The Power of My Voice / Jinxed

Last Sunday, I went for my usual morning jog/walk.

I was loving every minute of it because I had my music with me, the sun behaved itself and the breeze was great!

Suddenly, Maroon 5's Sunday Morning came on and I turned the music up louder. Such a perfect moment for an ideal song.

As I silently sang along to these words... "Sunday morning, rain is falling..."...

Rain REALLY dropped from the sky.

Either my singing is shiteous or mother nature just decided to screw with me.

How Does One Say 'Les Miserables' Anyway?

I can never get this right.

I've googled 'How to pronounce Les Miserables' and I thought the answer I got was accurate until I started saying it out. I guess it wasn't because when I said it (I thought that made me sound damn sophisticated and smart), people gave me that 'omgwtfbbqetc did you just say?' look. Then, they'll correct me. Best part is... I still can't remember the correct way of saying it. Either I'm deaf or these people don't even know it anyway and just simply mumble the answer.

So what is it? Enlighten me please.
Or I'll just stick to my own way of saying it - (pronounced) Lays Miserable(s)

And I thought Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious was difficult.

Random thought of the day.

Here Comes The Fan Girl in Me!

Posted that on my Instagram last night.

Glad to have met this fello because not only is he talented and hilarious, he also woke the sleeping writer in me. I'll take his advice - be shameless and write like as if I'm bloody awesome at it.

Am I A Travelholic? Almost.

Who knew travelling could be so much fun!

Exploring and seeing the world was never at the top of my to-do list but after my first holiday out of Malaysia, I was hooked! Although it may require loads of moolah to reach my desired holiday destination, the feeling I get when I see breath taking views or simply gorgeous architectures is simply... priceless. It makes my heart skip so many beats and I love how that makes me feel.

So far, I've only been to a handful of places - Macau, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Singapore. Next up, JAPAN, baby! So yeah, I'm pretty excited. But before I get there, the only challenge I have to overcome is saving truckloads of money so that I can fully enjoy my trip. Can't wait!

Next up? Maybe a break from Asian countries.

That's all. Just felt like putting my writing energy to good use.

Happy month of June, y'all!

Just My Two Cents

Before 05/05, I was skeptical.
I asked myself, "Why should I care?".
My voice won't be heard anyway and it won't make a difference at all.

But then, something struck me. It made me believe that if I care, I can make a difference. The positive change I always longed for was actually in my hands. My hope automatically shot sky high. I was pumped.

So, 05/05 came and went. What's new? Nothing much. Same old. Maybe worst.
My hope for positive change has circled down the drain. I mean, what's the point of caring when our fate lies in the hands of a gigantic puppet master, and not us? Waste of time, right?

A part of me is saying "screw it!" but another part of me is telling me to hang in there because goodness is on it's way. All we need is a little bit of patience. Okay, maybe shit loads of patience.

Positive change will come, I believe. And hope. And pray.
It's just a matter of time.

PS: Instead of taking 12274623896236 steps back, how about moving forward and adapting to the current "trend"? Racism and being a sore loser is soooooo 1910.

PPS: We're not broken, just bent and we can learn to love again. (Hellz yes, I love this quote)

Ok. bye.

Just Give Me A Reason by Pink & Nick Ruess

One of the tunes that's on replay in my personal playlist... for now.

Get ready... set... go... sing this song like as if you're singing it with one of them!!! Don't forget to add in some overly emotional facial expressions too.

Simply The Best

One of the best feelings in the world was when my mother said 'Wow! I'm impressed! Good job!' when she read my writing material. It's truly motivating and inspiring to me, knowing that such thing is appreciated.

Previously, at work, no one would tell me that my writing was good. It was either rejected or always modified. I guess rejection and modification did help make a difference in this thing I would like to call 'talent'. Hah!

Once again, I'm reminded about why I chose to fall in love with writing in the first place. I like writing because I get to say things that I'm too shy to voice out and it somehow makes me think even more than I usually do.

So, thank you mommy!

Me and writing... it's definitely a love-hate relationship.

It's All Coming Back To Me Now

I just realized something...

I seem to be pushing people around me to do things that I wanna do, knowing damn well that they don't wanna do it and that I can't.

Example: Eating cheese baked rice. I would make people eat cheese bake rice because I long for cheese bake rice and I know I shouldn't be touching that evil goodness. Seeing them devour that cheese bake rice will somehow satisfy me. Weird, right?

My point is, just because I can't do something, I find it satisfying if someone else does it on my "behalf".

I guess I should stop this. If that's my dream, I should go after it. Not send someone on my behalf.

There, hope I made sense.

No More 'Soft Taufu'

Soft taufu may be gone but taufu sambal belacan is definitely in action!

I've recently started learning Muay Thai and guess what, I LOVE IT!!

  photo Mar042013053_zpsc1a3070a.jpg

If  you asked me to work out... say 3 years ago, I would have Muay Thai-ed you with my eyes because I hated the thought of moving a single muscle in my body. Back then, work out was lame to me.

Now, I guess just love the idea of sweating it out and at the same time, learn some self defense skills (because God knows I need it).

Anyway, few weeks ago, our instructor asked all of us to list down 5 reasons why we want to learn Muay Thai and to also choose a "dream" body that will help motivate us to get into shape.

My 5 reasons are:
1. Stay in shape.
2. Lose some more weight.
3. Increase my stamina.
4. Gain self defense knowledge.
5. De-stress.

I thought of those 5 within seconds! As for my "dream" body, it took me longer than expected.

I used to have a clear vision of what body I want to have or wish to have. So, the first body hottest body that came to mind was Blake Lively's.

  photo blake-lively-0_zps180b188c.jpg

Don't roll your eyes! You know you want it too.

Wanting Blake Lively's body was last week. This week, I changed my mind because I suddenly thought of someone more inspiring and totally relatable... Perez Hilton.

 photo perez-hilton-weight-loss_zpsbbf594e2.jpg

Don't get me wrong. Not that I long for a man's body. I chose Perez Hilton because I admire his strength, ambition and positivity. He used to be a really chubby kid too and look at how much weight he has lost!! Of course, I'm sure he has more time to work out and more money to hire a personal trainer but still, he's such an inspiration to me and I will continue to look up to him as a role model.

There are other female celebs/ordinary people who has lost a ton of weight but they somehow don't reach out to me like Perez does/do/whatever. So yeah, that's why my "dream" body is Perez Hilton's. Not because he has a 'six pack' but because he made me realize that one day, I can get my own girly 'six pack' too.

Till next time!

*Photo credits go to this and this.

Procrastination Isn't The Answer

There are so many things that I wanna do but I just can't seem to pick my ass up and get right to it. Even blogging seemed so difficult. I hope I get my act together soon and start on whatever I need to do.

Toodle-oo!

Can Anyone Hear Me?

I don't know if it's the pms or is my instinct hitting the right spot but I've been feeling very very lonely. Not physically lonely but just... very alone in whatever I do. I just feel like I can't open up to anyone anymore because I don't think they're that interested in what I have to say therefore, I clam up. I do hope I'm wrong though.

That's all I have floating in my mind.

Addicted To These

What's on top of my current playlist? These babies...

Ho Hey by The Lumineers

I find the lead singer attractive. Don't worry, I'll get over this phase.

Scream & Shout by Will.I.Am feat Britney Spears.
(Thanks to Conrad for introducing this jam to me.)

This song makes jogging a lot more fun and exciting. I find myself bopping my head and making weird hand dance movements while I jog/brisk walk.

On 'Figuring Out What Guys Want'

Little Things by One Direction

Okay, I'm sure you've heard this song a million times on the radio. I love this song. Who wouldn't? Nice soothing voices accompanied by the plucking of a guitar... yup, romantic. Whatever.

I love this song because of its lyrics though. It's about how a guy loves every little thing about his girl... endlessly - the fact that she isn't the average skinny girl (she squeezes into her tight jeans, hates her thighs and stomach), doesn't have perfect skin (she has freckles!), talks nonsense in her sleep, hates her voice on tape, etc. Bottom line, the guy loves the girl more than the girl loves herself.

Sorry to say this but... LIES! Haha.

I'm fat plus size, my face has pimples and scars, I hate how I sound on tape too and I might laugh or talk in my sleep. Do any guys find this attractive? Don't think so.

I've also read magazine interviews from a few average Joes saying that they love girls who enjoy eating. None of that 'salad only' crap. Well, really? I love eating too (pizza, burgers, cookies, bak kut teh, you name it!) (Which also explains my size) but do these average joes even take a single glance at me? Do they?! Hellz no 2.0.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, and I'll break it down for you...

Fat girl eats salad to lose weight for guy - No no
Skinny girl eats salad to keep fit - No no.
Fat girl eats fat foods - Lagi lah No no.
Skinny girl eats fat foods - SCORE!!

LOL... yeah, I clearly have issues.

No, I'm not upset that/desperate for guys to look my way. Just a little puzzled and want to get this off my mind. No intentions to insult anyone.

Clair - out.

On 'Getting Hold of Mr. Right'

I spy with my little eye, a decent looking guy who somehow makes me sigh.
He's often seen sitting on his own, scrolling his tablet like he's in a little secret zone.
I frown at him and to myself, I think... "One day, boy... you + your tablet and me + my smart phone will definitely be in sync."

Note:-
1. My colleague and I were talking about this guy we see on a regular basis. He seems pretty anti social because he's ALWAYS on his damn tablet. So one day, my colleague said "Both of you have something in common... always tapping on a touch screen." And then I replied, "Isn't that awesome? One day we'll sync with one another."

That's when my colleague told me that I should start writing down cool stuff (cool stuff, in our opinion. Sorry if you think it's lame) that comes out in the spur of the moment. So, I did. Can come in handy as writing inspiration too.

2. I'm in a rhyming mood hence the post above.

Greetings from Yours Truly.

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!

 photo Feb232013061_zps09f3bf65.jpg
Meet Bingo, my Uncle Ken's shih tzu. He's a fashionista, bebeh!

This is our first CNY without our late grandma Leong. It seemed quieter and... different without her. I can't quite put my finger on it.

She used to enjoy this celebration a lot. During the past few days, I couldn't help but think of her and how she used to give us red packets, tell us what and what not to wear, make us bring new shirts so that she could send to the temple to place a 'stamp' on it, watch Chinese opera and variety shows on TV all day while we force ourselves to watch it with her, etc.

There's no denying it... I do miss her.

 photo April152012291_zps706c671b.jpg
That's my last photo with her, taken last year on her birthday.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed (or still enjoying) your CNY celebration and holidays. It's back to work for me tomorrow. The days are passing by too fast! Slow the heck down, will ya?

Stay safe, y'all!

Random Ramblings #25647

Try saying this ten times... really quickly.

"Clair's Pear Pie"

A colleague of mine tried and she ended up with different 'eyebrow-raising' versions such as:-

- Clair's spare parts
- Clair's vespa
- Clasps nsafgdajbua pie
... amongst others. LOL.

We both found it really amusing and it brought tears to our eyes... all thanks to the laughing that this lil tongue twister made us do. Ah, the simple things we do at work to keep us sane.

That's all.

A Breath of Fresh Air

This week marks the beginning of many new things, for me.

Okay, not that many. Just 2 new things to be exact.

First, I've FINALLY transferred to a new department at work (after 8 months of w.a.i.t.i.n.g.). Initially, I was in the creative team as a copywriter and now, I've moved to a new team with a completely new job scope. Why? Because it was offered to me and I didn't think of anything else but to grab it. I'm aware that I should stick to one type of job in order to build a solid career but sorry, I like trying out new stuff and I see no wrong in that. Shrugs. Besides, it all feels pretty refreshing and that's what I need. So far, everything seems alright. I'm still getting used to it. I must admit though, I do sorta miss my fellow creative colleagues. Yep, I said it!

Speaking of work, this is what I wore today. I'm sharing this because I felt so like a school girl, with the glasses and all... hence, the peace sign. LOL. Oh, shorter and neater hairdo too. Not that it's any different than my previous ones. Yawn!

 photo 2-3_zps228f9284.jpg
Top: Polo tee sponsored by the company I work for.
Skirt: Cotton On

Second, I've FINALLY moved out!!

Not out of my house. Just out of my previous room to the empty room located downstairs of my house. My late grandma used to sleep in there and since no one wants to sleep in there now, I called dibs!

It's a pretty big deal for me because all my life, I've been sharing a room with either my sister or brother or uni roommates. This time, I have the whole room to myself!

Why I love it?
1. There's an attached bathroom. No more sharing!
2. It's cosy and kinda cooling.
3. It's pink! My dad painted it for me and it's gonna be filled with all the stuff I love.

Taaadaaa... welcome to my humble Funland!

 photo 3-3_zps9f053adb.jpg
Still not fully decorated, which explains why I took only this part of the whole room. Hah!

 photo 1-3_zpsfcfaddf5.jpg
I... just... had... to.

Ah... fresh beginnings can be so refreshing.

The end!

Look Who's Back!

Brrrrr... it's cold in here. There must be some Clair-ism in the blogosphere!

Ok, I tried.

Anyway, HELLO!! It's been too damn long since I last blogged. Why? Simply because my work is all about writing and by the time I come home, the last thing I wanna do is write some more, so... yea. The reason why I decided to blog again. however, is because my work will soon have nothing to do with writing and I wanna keep writing so that my mind and skillz won't get rusty, ya know?

No, I didn't resign. Just changed roles.

I also thought of starting a brand new blog but I decided not to because I still wanna take a look back my past memories, even if my writing back then was awful! It might still be awful to some of you but I admit, I think it improved a little bit. The only person I have to thank would be the one I always send my work to for checking and editing.

So, what have I been up to since I last blogged? Well, a whole damn lot actually. 2012 has been nothing but awesome and till today, I can't believe those things happened right before my eyes. Let's recap, shall we?

One of my main highlights for 2012 would be my trip to South Korea! If you know me well, you'll know how much I've always wanted to go there and when I finally did, I felt like I could cross one thing off my bucket list.

South Korea was awesome! Food was great, scenery was gorgeous, people were nice and I could go on and on and on. I will definitely go back again, once I strike lottery.

 photo Jan242013018_zps36cd0f2c.jpg
That's me with Nat (my sister) and her friend, Mogala at the top of Mount Seorak.

 photo Jan242013020_zpsadc74d62.jpg
That's us at Jeju Island.

 photo Jan242013019_zpsa5c3d1f9.jpg
I also saw sheep for the very first time! Star struck, much?

 photo Jan242013005_zps792bc552.jpg
We also checked out the famous Teddy Bear museum. I'm not a big fan of teddy bears and soft toys but that trip changed me. I even brought one home.

Then, few months down the road, I got to watch Maroon 5 in concert again. Front zone again. Drooled over Adam Levine... again. Thanks to Desiree for the awesome tickets!

 photo Jan242013006_zpsd861b61f.jpg
I'm still crazy about this bad boy!

Next highlight? WATCHING BIG BANG IN CONCERT!
Hellz yes, I did! Again, if you know me well, you'll know how much I love Kpop's hottest band, Big Bang. Been a fan since 2007 and attending their concert is like a total dream come true. Many people have made fun of them and made fun of me for liking them but you know what? I don't ca-a-a-re. Another thing to cross off my bucket list.

 photo Jan242013017_zps91520313.jpg
Big Bang doin' their thang!

After that, I made my way to Macau (again because I can't get enough of that place) and Hong Kong. This time around, I went there with the craziest friends ever... Conrad, Desiree and Liyana. It was our first trip together. Oh, we even got the chance to check out Disneyland, Madame Tussaud and HK's famous 'The Peak'!! Dreams do come true, ey?

 photo Jan242013004_zpsb69dbbbf.jpg
That's us at the Ruins of St.Paul in Macau.

 photo Jan242013003_zpsf2ded721.jpg
At the Disneyland entrance. It's true what they say... it's the happiest place on earth. The staff there are also happy. Happier than other people we've met during our trip.

 photo Jan242013002_zpsae01e6af.jpg
The awesome fireworks show at Disneyland!! Unforgettable.

Sorry, forgot to load other photos of our trip. Was too carried away with the Disneyland ones.

Hmm, then what happened after HK? Oh, I went to Beijing, no biggie. LOL.

Actually, it was a biggie because it was sponsored by the company I work for and it was winter time!! It was my first company trip and my first winter experience. Clap clap hands!

I loved Beijing, honestly. The view and the location was great but the weather, not so much. I didn't enjoy the cold. It would've been better if it was during a different season or with my loved ones, but whatever it is, I touched snow and I saw snow. Fullstop.

And I stepped foot at the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City. Wh-what!

 photo Jan242013007_zps8fccf505.jpg
Tadaa... the Great Wall. Such a waste that I didn't climb all the way. I blame the winter.

Yes, when I put on winter clothes, I look like a dumpling and if you lay a finger on me, I would roll.

 photo Jan242013008_zps464f257c.jpg
Taken at this wonderful place called Summer Palace. Mighty cold over there but the view was worth it!

So yea, that's what happened in 2012.

In a nutshell... I traveled like mad (too broke to leave the country now), I saw things I've never seen before, I lost 21kgs (Yes, I had to put that in! Hah!) and I've worked for 1.5 years straight... without quitting (this is my longest lasting job in my whole working life). That's all.

Hmm... maybe I shall blog about how I lost 21kgs. Lmao!
No, puking and starving myself wasn't the answer.

That's all I've got. Till I blog again!

Wait For It...

I'll be back... quicker than uttering 'OMG'. Or maybe a little longer. Shrugs.
